Rumassala Mountain

Rumassala Mountain is an exceptional place in Sri Lanka because the eco system of Rumassala is entirely different from other areas. Most of the plants of Rumassala are endemic only to that location. This mountain was named Buono Vista by colonialists. In the epic legend Ramayanaya, there is a myth associated to the Rummassala Mountain. According to the myth 'Lakshman' was injured in a battle and 'Hanuman' was sent to the Himalaya region to bring a plant of medicinal value. 'Hanuman' forgot the name of the plant so he was said to have brought a piece of Himalaya to this location. However according to Dr Arthur C. Clerk Rumassala was a result of a meteoroid, as it is found that the gravitational force in Rumassala is different from other land mass in the area. Enjoy the stunning view of the Indian Ocean and the Galle fort from the Peak of Rumassala Mountain.
