Victoria Golf Course"Some golf courses have a splendid undulating terrain over which the holes are routed. Some golf courses have a scenic backdrop of hills and lakes, which excite the senses. However, the Victoria Golf Course near Kandy is blessed with both attributes" - Donald Steel, Golf Architect
The Par 73, 7000-yard Victoria Golf Course was voted 'Best Golf Course 2005' by Asian Golf Monthly Magazine and ranked among the top 100 'Most Beautiful Courses in The World' by Golf Digest Magazine. Although the course was only completed in 1997, it is well established and with large trees lining the fairways this course does not show its young age.
Victoria cannot simply be regarded as just a beautiful course with spectacular views of the rolling hills of the Knuckles range all around and the rushing white waters of the Victoria Reservoir. The 18 hole course stretching over peaks and slopes could prove to be a task for the best of Golfers, from long hitting on the three 500 yard par 5s to the short testing par 3s on fast greens. The par 4, 6th has become Victoria's signature hole. The tee box is perched on a peak 100 ft above the fairway with views that awe. The continual changing in elevation is a feature to this course, whether searching for fairways 100 feet below or trying to find greens with their treacherous putting surfaces.
