SurfingThis adventure on water was introduced to Maldives recently however since then it has gained much popularity among the locals. March to November is considered to be the ideal time for surfing in the islands because the Indian monsoonal winds make the wind conditions during these months perfect for surfing.
There are two main surf areas in the Maldives; the outer atolls contains many breaks that are rarely surfed, for those visitors that wish to discover these breaks the ideal time to surf would be February to April. The North Male atoll with its popular breaks should be surfed from April to October.
A few of the famous surf sites in the Maldives are Chickens which is located in the uninhabited island of Villingilimathi Huraa, Thulusdhoo the capital of Male’ atoll, Gurus located on the southern tip of North Male' atoll and Honky's situated in the uninhabited island of Thamburudhoo to the east of North male' atoll.
